Components affected: Tag, Collection Pipeline, Reporting Database

Delivered to production: Coming soon

What's changed in the Optimize platform with Release 71? Here are the highlights.

Collect Service

Type: New feature / service

As part of the modernisation / future-proofing of the Optimize platform, we've been replacing all legacy parts of the product.

The entre collection pipeline has been addressed here - our most significant overhaul in the history of Webtrends Optimize.

We now have a new flow through which data will be processed - this is everything from the API that your views/metrics flow into, to where they're buffered and processed into our Clickhouse database.

What's the benefit to our users?

A few things:

  • Data will flow into reports even faster. Currently, it takes 10-30 minutes for data to surface in reports. Compared to some other vendors, who take between 6hrs to 24hrs to show data, this was already great. Now, though, we expect data to be available within 60 seconds.

  • More easily scalable. We will have an easier time deploying these APIs into the corners of the world that our customer base is popping up in. This means lower-latency than our current servers offer.

  • Easier to iterate on. If asked for new services, it will be far easier to deploy into these servers than anything that we've had to date.

  • Keeping our costs down - These servers will be cheaper to run than our existing services. Our constant focus on new, faster, cheaper services is one of the reasons our customers don't see huge price rises year-to-year where they do with other platforms.

What's next for the Collect service?

We will now begin the process of migrating all existing customers into this flow, as we did uninterruptedly when migrating all reports from SQL into Clickhouse in 2022/23.
