TLDR: No, the change does not affect Webtrends Optimize users.

This information is accurate as of 01 Feb 2024.

What change is Google Chrome making?

In H1 2024, Google Chrome is testing the disabling by default of Third Party Cookies for 1% of users. This is with the goal of disabling Third Party Cookies for all users in H2 2024.

This change is in line with actions taken over the past years by browsers like Safari and Firefox, which we have detailed in Intelligent Tracking Prevention.

Does this affect Webtrends Optimize users?

To be as clear as possible:

No aspect of the Optimize platform, whether it's use of the interface, delivery of experiments or tracking of user behaviour is reliant on third party cookies, as long as your use of the platform for any given experience can be limited to one top-level domain (e.g. *.webtrends-optimize.com, which catches www., app., docs., etc.).

If you have checkout., secure., account. etc, these are not decision-influencing factors, but wanting a single experience to persist across mysite.com and mysecondsite.com would be.

Why might people be concerned about it?

Whilst we do not require third-party cookies, some experimentation platforms have been known to. This is a justified concern but does not apply to users of Webtrends Optimize.
