Webtrends Optimize has a library of no-code widgets available for you to use including promo bars, pop-ups and lightboxes.
These can be accessed via the visual editor and are built and created from within the editor itself.
This article assumes you have followed the steps in this guide to creating a new experience.
Accessing the no-code widgets
Once you have completed the 'Create' form you will launch the visual editor and you need to navigate to the widgets option in the editing tools.
From here you can select which widget you want to use and can start configuring the settings to ensure the widget shows and behaves as you want it to.
There are 2 options in this list not covered in this document.
For more info on surveys please use this guide.
For more info on custom widgets please use this guide.
Building a widget
There are lots of options to choose from and the first thing is to select the type of widget you want to create. Each widget has its own set of customisations and we will cover those below.
Remember, you are able to make quick changes and apply/save them to see the immediate impact on anything you have changed.
Position
This is the position on the page you wish to place the widget. For hello/promo bars it offers top or bottom but for other widgets you have options for left and right.
Content
This will change the content of the widget and will include options such as images, text and colours.
Container
This option changes the colour of the widget itself. By default this option will be white but can be any colour you require.
Background overlay
This option changes the colour of the background overlay. Typically this will be black/grey but can be changed to any colour you wish.
Button
If the widget contains a button you will be able to change the text, text colour and also destination of the link when clicked.
Close button
If the widget contains a button for users to dismiss it you are able to change the appearance.
Nav selector and method
When using hello or promo bars they have options to show at the top of the screen. With this in mind it may impact where your navigation shows and here you have the ability to adjust this so there is no overlap.
Trigger
Here you can change when the widget shows and there are several options:
Immediately - as soon as the user lands on the page
On exit intent - when a user shows exit intent
On delay - after a specified time (customisable)
For more information on how we measure exit intent please see this article.
Limits
Here we can specify the behaviour of the widget showing in regards to how often it shows to a user. There are several options to choose from:
Every page load - every time the page loads the widget will show
Once - shows once regardless of user behaviour
Once per session - shows once per user session
Once per 'x' days - only show after a user returns after a specified time
Saving your widget
Once you have completed the widget you will click 'save' and the widget will appear in the visual editor so you can see your design.
From here you can do several things:
Change the options - amend your current design
Apply widget - apply those changes to the widget
Remove widget - remove the widget entirely
Once you are happy with the widget you can return to the UI and complete configuring the experience ready to launch.
