AI Predictive Heatmaps

See where visitors are most likely to look on a page before you build or launch an experience. Upload a screenshot and Predictive Heatmaps uses AI to show which parts of your design draw attention first.

What is it?

Predictive Heatmaps is a new research tool in Webtrends Optimize. It analyses a screenshot of your page or design and returns a heatmap: warm colours show the areas most likely to catch a visitor’s eye, cool colours the areas likely to be overlooked.

Use it to:

  • check that your key message or call to action stands out before you launch a variant

  • compare design ideas side by side and choose the strongest one to test

  • spot distractions that pull attention away from what matters

No traffic or live experience is needed. Results are ready in moments.

Predictive Heatmaps uses AI-generated content. Use the results as guidance alongside your real test data. It isn’t available on accounts that have opted out of AI features.

How to create a predictive heatmap

Step 1. In the top navigation, open Research and choose Predictive Heatmaps.

Step 2. Click the Upload your screenshots panel to choose files, or drag and drop them onto it. You can also paste an image straight from your clipboard.

Supported files: PNG (recommended), JPEG/JPG and WebP, up to 5MB each.

Tip: don’t upload full-page screenshots. Upload what a visitor would see on screen at one time, such as the area above the fold on desktop or a single mobile screen.

Step 3. Check the files you’ve selected and click Upload now.

Step 4. Your heatmap appears in My Predictive Heatmaps as soon as it’s ready. A spinner shows while it’s being generated.

Step 5. Click a heatmap to view it full size and compare it with your original screenshot.

Managing your heatmaps

Your heatmaps are saved to your account, so your team can come back to them later. To remove one, click the x in the top right of its tile and confirm. Deleting a heatmap can’t be undone.

Good to know

  • Heatmaps predict attention from the design alone. They don’t use your visitor data.

  • If you see “This feature is disabled as you have opted out of AI”, your account has AI features turned off in Account Overview.
