Summary

Components updated: Force Experiment Widget

Delivered to production: 01 December 2023

What's changed in the Optimize platform with Release R.FXP23.01? Here are the highlights.

Users will not need to do anything special to see these changes. It will be automatic, and with all users within the next 24hrs depending on their last usage of the feature.

Force Experiment Widget - Wait for page to load before executing

Type: New feature

Previously, the widget ran at the moment of being clicked. If Optimize hadn't been available in that moment, you'd see error messages to describe that situation.

Recently, we've found many customers who will run Optimize asynchronously or on delays, which made quick-clicks of the widget report errors moire frequently.

This change looks to delay the execution of the widget until optimize has loaded,, for a maximum threshold of a few seconds. This gives all customers a fair opportunity to get Optimize onto the page, even if deviating from our best-practices for when/how to achieve it.

Force Experiment Widget - Strip out unnecessary data

Type: Improvement

There are things in our Data Layer such as Weather, which have no benefit of being sent to Optimize for Location evaluation. And the more data we capture, the harder it is for those JSONP calls to be successful - every browser has URL size limits.

This change looks to strip out large amounts of data from our datalayer that isn't useful for location evaluation, thus making the calls to OTS to populate the widget much more oftenly reliable.
